THE FRESH SHEET: Food & Drink Happenings (Feb. 18)
To meet demand and take advantage of the new liquor licensing changes, Gastown’s popular Boneta (1 W. Cordova, 604-684-1844, Boneta.ca) has extended its hours to include lunch and late-night service seven days a week. In an e-mail blast, co-owner Mark Brand writes, “Lunches were sorely missed, not least of all by us, and now you can enjoy that last course until the conversation dwindles into the wee hours. Thank you, shiny new license.” No, thank you, Boneta.
Toronto restaurateurs and television stars Marc Thuet and Biana Zorich are Vancouver bound. The pair aim to capitalize on the success of their Hogtown restaurant, Conviction, which is staffed by reformed criminals, and its attendant reality-TV show, Conviction Kitchen, which chronicles the restaurant’s birth and growing pains. The husband-and-wife team have a new show in the works, for which they’re currently looking for a second location here in town, as well as busily casting locals who’ve had run-ins with the law. For more information on the show and the original restaurant, check out ConvictionRestaurant.com.
