The Wallflower Modern Diner has just opened at 2420 Main Street (the former Aurora Bistro location). The price points are very accessible, with familiar comfort-food plates (pot pie, burgers, sandwiches, etc.) selling for an average of $12.

To ring in the Year of the Ox, Wild Rice (117 West Pender, WildRiceVancouver.com), which specializes in modern Chinese cuisine, will offer a special three-course dinner for just $25 from January 25 (Chinese New Year’s Eve) through February 8. Wine pairings are an additional $20. Reserve by calling 604-642-2882.

Update: Au Petit Chauvignol, the highly anticipated new wine-and-cheese bar from retail cheese monger Les Amis du Fromage, is projected to be about a month from opening. It’s at 845 East Hastings.

Dine Out Vancouver returns for its seventh consecutive year, rom January 14 to February 1. Over 180 Greater Vancouver restaurants, bistros, and pubs are offering special three-course dinners at just $18, $28 or $38 per person.
